TRILOGY OF TERROR VHS TAPE:

This tape was only $0.50 I couldn't belive my eyes when I saw it for sale. Maybe its for sale online I donKt know, but I saw thiss series around 1979? And wanted it ever since. I was ELATED to find it. It was on the same old rack I check every time I stop into that thrift store and this time it was added, even tho the selection rarely ever changes. I was so glad to find I I got a rush.

HEATED TRAY small, 1970s. Keeps food and beverages HOT. No on/off switch. Just plug/unplug. Ill keep my teapot on it. 2$. So awesome.

This is about as long as a computer keyboard and twice as wide. My grandmother had a much larger one she would set out on a buffet to keep the
Hors d'oeuvres warm.  Like hers, this one to the right -->  It gets HOT. it says "hot electric tray" not "warm electric tray". its the truth. You could'nt cook on it but it will keep your food HOT not luke warm. I wonder if regulations have changed because it seems like food warmers don't do a good job anymore. I bought an electric cup warmer once. To replace an OLD one. And the new one kept the tea from being "not cold". Not warm, not hot and "not cold". It was wasn't effective. So i returned it and bought a different brand. Same problem. "luke warm tea". not worm but Luke. use the force. to warm up. the tea. so ya. This electric tray will keep my teapot HOT. I have a metal teapot that can't go in the microwave.

i fished it out of a giant crate full of crappy mugs. i have picker eagle-eye special ability!

1960s PYREX TERRA PATTERN 13oz. HANDLELESS COFFEE MUG:

i paid .25 cents for it. they go for $10 dollars on ebay.
find out more about terra pattern pyrex here!

I like this cup a lot but I'm wondering if the paint job has lead. It is a paint job not enamel. its from the 60s. So that could be an issue. Ive
tried to research but have come to no conclusion.
The paint is on the outside not the inside so it should be OK. If anyone knows the answer tto the lead question please leave a comment.

hi i wanted to put ads on my blog so i could get some money to buy more stuff but adserve banned me because i looked at my own blog [during editing] and they said i was manipulating the stats. what ever! so im banned from adserve for life with any future accounts. so you don't got to see no poopy ads on my blog, ever! thats good.

REPLACEMENT SKELETON KEY:  here is the key that came in the mail. i bought it on ebay. for the trunk.  the key works. it was 7$ after postage. i bought it on the "make offer" setting. not auction, not buy it now. i had never tried "make offer" before and it was 10$ and i offered 4.50$ and was accepted. 2-ish$ more for postage. the key came in only 3 days. now the trunk needs a new lining. i bought some black vinyl at the thrift store for 1$ that i might use. i also bought this east indian fabric i might glue in as a liner. for 1$. or i might just spray paint the inside black. who ever owned the trunk before me used this bright green-turquoise shelf paper from the 60s that i can't live with. and its stuck on and i cant just peal it off.

Old trunks had skeleton keys made for them.

FRIDGE MAGNETS: At the thift store i didnt want to buy anything so then i looked in baskets i dont usually look in and i found cool refridgerator magnets. a good trick that i do is i get magnets from that basket and go into housewares and put the magnets on cookware to see if its aluminum or stainless steel. if its not marked on the bottom its very hard to tell sometimes. so the magnet trick is good. but this time i liked two magnets i saw in there. they cost me .50 cents each:
Stainless Steel is magnetic. Aluminum is not.
KITCH PURSE KEY-CHAIN: in the magnet section of the thrift store i noticed they have a basket for keychains so i looked at the keychains and i found this one that was so gross i had to buy it. its a tiny purse 1 inch wide. perfect for any ho-on-the-go who needs to pack light it has enough room for chapstick, credit card, condom, and lifesavers, a $20, and advil. it really opens up and works.
worlds smallest crocodile handbag

VINTAGE KITCHEN KNIFE SHARPENER: Today i bought a vintage knife sharpener. the kind you  throw in a drawer. i packed it away already for my move. but here is an ebay picutre. of someone else's. they posted for $12. I paid 2$ for mine. mine isnt gross or rusty.
this item is cool. it takes no space in a drawer.
PYREX MILKGLASS MIXING BOWL: I also got a white milk glass pyrex mixing bowl for 2$ here is the same item from ebay. its posted there by someone else for $24.

these bowls are heavy so you don't need to hold them down as you stir.
CORBIN TRUNK REPLACEMENT KEY:  The replacement key to my cool trunk arrived today. I bought it from a seller on ebay. its the skeleton key to the trunk i bought and restored, shown earlier on my blog. The key did not fit when i first tried it but I realized i had to turn part of the lock on the other side first and mess with it a bit. Now it works. An old trunk with a working key. :)

me as Lieutenant Ilia. original 1979 Halloween costume
1979 STAR TREK MOVIE KIDS HALLOWEEN COSTUME:  I did not buy this but one thing i like to do is drink alcohol and talk peoples ear off about star trek the original motion picture part 1. i tell them about the deltan who gets borgified, by vygr..,., and one of my friends got me the 1979 Halloween costume  of Lieutenant Ilia, THE FIRST BORG???

BREAKING NEWS: THE MYSTERIOUS HORSE PRINT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED!

The giant horse print has been identified as:

Study for the Horsemarket, 1900,

  by  Rosa Bonheur

Thanks to bil M. who let me know the title of this print!
“The Horse Fair,” is displayed in New York’s Metropolitan Museum.
allposters.com sells the unframed print in a smaller size for 49.99
then its an additional $104.99 for them to frame it,
an additional $60 if you want it mounted on wood.
I got all of that plus a super giant size for only $30! The staff-lady who I bought this from said she did not think it was a Giclee (high quality inkjet print). I can't tell if it is a lithograph or a Giclee.
ebay has it up for $400.00 by someone else. here.

I have been semi hoarderish lately and I had a dream last night that i was on that show hoarders: buried alive, and dr. zazio came to rationalize with me about my overbuying and my clutter-blindness. To be honest i was a little worried about this purchase because it was THIRTY dollars. My limit is around $12. I feel so much relief that i did not Ef_up on this one.

UNSPECIFIED FRAMED PRINT: Today I picked up a print I bought earlier this week. It cost 30$. The staff-lady told me the artists name.. Rose something. I can't make it out on the print and I forgot what she said the name was. also the staff-lady had a conversation about the print when i was deciding whether to buy it or not, and we couldn't figure out what the scene was depicting. the horses have no saddles.. the men are not in uniforms.. or are they? We did not understand the mise en scene.  The frame is a heavy natural wood with a glass pane.

The print is large and heavy, about five feet long.

UNMARKED FLORAL TRAY: This is an unmarked tray. i don't know who made it or how old it is or the value. i paid 3$. its not flimsy.
ANTIQUE CORBIN TRUNK: This piece was a hot mess when i bought it. i forgot to take a "before" photo. It was some tasteless persons craft project failure. it was yellow stripes. i spray painted it jet black. i googled the code that's on the lock hardware; found out i can get a replacement skeleton key for it!

I purchased a replacement key online for 7$
These old trunks have lock code numbers. Google this number to find a replacement skeleton key!
The inside needs to be refinished
with either shelf-paper or fabric glued on
with Elmers glue.

look what i got: day 1

look for wheat and avocado, they were popular 70s colors.

HEISEY PLATE: I also was looking at dishes. a good tip is to look for avocado or wheat colored things. that means its 70s.  i saw an amber colored plate and thought it could be depression glass. a lot of it is amber, it seems like. always look for hallmarks. i turned the plate over and the tiny hallmarks was a the letter H inside a diamond <h> like that. i googled it on my smart phone and found out its HEISEY GLASS. semi-valuable. further research i discovered its not depression glass, its called ELEGANT GLASS and is slightly more valuable. i couldn't find an exact match but here is a close match of the plate. it cost me 1$ and eBay values it around 12$.

Hoosier & Co. vase next to
blue Keramos Pitcher.
KERAMOS PITCHER: I saw this cerulean pot for sale for a few weeks and i liked it but it was priced at 22$ which was too much, then after a while it got reduced to half off. so for 11$ i took a risk. its worth 15$.
HOOSIER & CO. VASE: My green Hoosier & Co. vase cost only .25 cents. i think its ugly-pretty. its worth about 10$.
The moon-phase and planting-time
features make this clock interesting.

BURPEE CLOCK:  Burpee seed planting clock from the 1970s when it was a promotional item. It's box'ey like a stereo speaker. Not flat. it tells the time, phase of the moon, and what seeds are plant-able that month. i paid 3$. I've had offers to sell it for 50$ but I'm keeping it.

This lamp is
wired to
accept
3-way bulbs.

1950s FLOOR LAMP: Ive had good luck finding furniture. i found a floor lamp for only 10$. it works.. kind of. the light comes on.. but then starts flickering and buzzing. so i have not been using it. i am near a lamp store that sells kits to rewire lamps. I've done it before. it only costs 15$. that is my plan with this lamp. i think its from the 1950s. the shade is really cool glass.
The removable glass insert makes this easy to clean..

1950S BUTTER DISH: i don't eat butter but i like butter dishes here is a tip make sure you get a butter dish with a handle on the top. i got a glass butter dish was all glass and had no handle and after using it a few times it would get greasy and you could not lift the lid off. your hands slid off with no handle to grasp. greasy glass with no handle doesn't work. i found this butter dish its stainless steel and has a glass insert inside the butter rests on. its from the 50s i think and i paid 1$

Wire bail cheese crock next to Nyform troll.
NYFORM TROLL: I was at a thrift store and i picked up a troll figurine. some woman descended upon me and politely tried to get it off me. never do that to someone. it will make them want it if they didn't want it before. just follow them around the store till they put what you want back down. if you act like its good, you will lose it to them. so this lady wanted my troll and i said no sorry. with smart phone research i discovered it is called NYFORM TROLL DOLL from Norway.  I paid 12$ for this;  they retail around 50-75$. mine is #171 model.
70's WIRE CROCK SET: today i got 2 crocks or canisters. i hadn't known the name of them but a search on eBay showed they are cheese crocks with a wire bail. i had a set in the 1970s and broke them. i paid 1$ for the small one and 2$ for the larger one. these sell for about what i paid for them on eBay. i think ill keep them. ill use them to keep fish food in. it will look better than a plastic bottle of fish food sitting out. the larger one ill use to keep my sage sticks that i burn to drive evil spirits away.

TOURIST COIN PURSE: I collect coin purses.
In this, I keep bus coins and an extra battery for my cellphone.
Here is one i bought for .25 cents at a thrift shop.

ALIEN NECKLACE: I'm into the Sid & Marty Croft tv series land of the lost. from the 70s. it was my ambition to make an alien concept necklace that enic the friendly sleestak altrusian- would have been proud of-. good for opening dimension doors or summoning the mother-ship. it has real quartz crystals, one herkimer diamond, and a citrine.
The gemstones are real
For only .50 cents its worry-free to use.

MISMATCH PLATE: here is a plate i got for .50 cents. it has no hallmark but i liked it. i prefer to eat and drink with mismatch plates, cups, and glasses of patterns that i like rather than have one uniform matching set.

ZOMBIE AUTOMATON: my main interest in life are zombies CVS pharmacy has a zombie automaton for sale for 20$ my local CVS was out so i ordered it online it cost 30$ after shipping. i have an extra one still in the box unopened if you want to buy it from me. i got a 2nd one by mistake. Here is the one i have opened and am keeping its eyes light up and it waves its arms around and groans.

FEDERAL CO. PEPPER SHAKER: I bought a brown-capped FEDERAL CO. pepper shaker for 1$. its from the 1970s. a matching set with a salt shaker would be worth 30$. i don't know the value of a single pepper shaker. maybe 10$? I'm keeping this one because i use a lot of different kinds of pepper. this one holds nicely in the hand and is good for peppering a large area while-cooking.

Large pepper shakers in glass are nice

70s GEMCO ORANGE JUICER: I bought this for 1$. its a 1970s GemCo. orange reamer-juicer. it works really well. can you see the pointy dimple at the top? newer juicers dont have that. its important because it kind of "stabs" the orange in the center and the juice flows forth much more readily. its these type of little details in products that can change the value and usefulness dramatically. the glass is that heavy thick glass like old milk bottles. the top unscrews so you can drink the juice right from there, our you can pour it into another glass using the spout.

VINTAGE GE CLOCK:  Model #2163
Its avocado green so I would say 1970s?
I can not find any information on it, despite
knowing the Maker and Model #.
I paid $2 for it. I found a similar but not identical clock on ebay going for $35
Mine is nicer. I'm keeping it. I's marvelous.
